Big Build 2025
At Wilson Landscapes, we believe a garden can be so much more than grass, paving, or plants. It can be a sanctuary, a place to play, or a source of hope.
Over the last five years, our team has proudly volunteered our services to support families across the UK through the BBC’s DIY SOS, led by presenter Nick Knowles. From adventure outdoor community play grounds to full house & garden re-builds to accommodate for disabilities to building a 2 story extension & garden for a cancer charity as part of a children in need DIY SOS special.
For us, it has never been about recognition or personal gain. It has always been about giving our time, skills, and resources to help families facing extraordinary challenges.
Five Years of Volunteering with DIY SOS!
DIY SOS has long stood as a beacon of community spirit, bringing together tradespeople, volunteers, and neighbours to transform homes and lives. Wilson Landscapes has played a part in these life-changing builds by creating gardens that are safe, accessible, and uplifting.
From sensory gardens for children with additional needs, to outdoor retreats for parents coping with loss, to practical, accessible spaces for families managing disability, our team has seen first-hand the powerful impact a well-designed garden can make.
Each project is fast-paced and demanding, but our landscapers have never hesitated to give their time.
Long days and late nights are made worthwhile when we see the relief and joy on families’ faces. Inspired by Community Spirit Working alongside Nick Knowles and the dedicated DIY SOS team has been an incredible experience.
Nick has a gift for bringing people together, and his passion mirrors our own values: that when people give freely of their skills and energy, they can make an extraordinary difference. The ripple effects of these projects extend far beyond the families themselves. Communities come together, businesses contribute, and neighbours build lasting connections. Being part of that wider impact has been one of the most rewarding aspects of our involvement.
As we continue our journey, Wilson Landscapes remains committed to volunteering our services wherever they can make a difference. The last five years with DIY SOS have shown us the power of generosity and teamwork — and we are proud to keep giving back. Because at Wilson Landscapes, we know that a garden is never just a garden. It can be a lifeline, a safe haven, and a fresh start.
